Alyssa is the Volunteer Manager at The Doorways! Alyssa came to Virginia all the way from California and recently settled in Richmond after graduating from William & Mary with a BA in both Anthropology and Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies. Alyssa has spent many hours as a volunteer herself at various nonprofits in the Los Angeles area. She believes access to quality healthcare is a fundamental human right and loves supporting the wonderful volunteers at The Doorways in any way she can!
My first job: I was a babysitter for my neighbors growing up. Three boys all under the age of seven!
Something most people don’t know about me: I was in a commercial for World Wresting Entertainment as a baby.
Some of my hobbies include: Cooking vegan food, crocheting sweaters and hats, and playing board games.
My favorite spot around town is: Despite only moving to the area recently, I am on my way to becoming a regular at the Penzey's spice shop on Cary Street.
My favorite line of our mantra is: We believe in the simple truth that everyone needs help eventually.
My favorite season is: I love watching the leaves turn in the fall and finally escaping the humidity of summer.
