The Young Professionals Council (YPC) is The Doorways' next generations of supporters! The YPC is a dynamic group of individuals united by a desire to spread awareness of The Doorways throughout the Richmond community.
All proceeds from Young Professionals Council events are donated to The Doorways to support the cost of lodging our guests during their stay. Each member serves as an ambassador of The Doorways in the community, provides volunteer and community outreach support, and is an integral point of contact for The Doorways staff and Board of Directors.
How to Join the YPC
We are always looking for new members to join our YPC!
We accept new members on a rolling basis throughout the year. Before attending your first YPC meeting, please review our YPC Member Requirements (below). Then, fill out our YPC Membership Form and our Membership Chair will reach out to you with more information and to schedule a tour of The Doorways.
YPC Member Requirements
- Take a tour of The Doorways
- $50 annual dues (paid within the fiscal year)
- Attend at least 4 of the 6 bi-monthly meetings
- Attend at least 2 of the quarterly service projects
- Attend at least 2 YPC-led social events and fundraisers, including the annual membership friendraiser
- Volunteer at YPC's signature event, Splatter That Matters
- Solicit in-kind donations for Splatter That Matters
- Solicit team sponsorships or sponsorship referrals for Splatter That Matters
YPC Member Activities
Member meetings occur on the third Thursday of every other month and are held at various hot spots and venues throughout the Richmond area. Member meetings focus around providing updates on the YPC budget and member activities, including socials/fundraisers, membership, and service projects. Meetings also provide an opportunity for members to socialize and network.
YPC Officers convene for bi-monthly officer meetings on the third Thursday of every other (non-member meeting) month.
Members participate in quarterly service projects that support The Doorways' mission, including providing meals to our guests, deep cleaning areas of our building and hosting collection drives. Service projects are intended to provide opportunities for our members to connect directly and in a more personal way with the guests we serve.
Socials & Fundraisers
YPC members host several socials and community fundraisers throughout the years. Members are encouraged to bring family and friends to these events!
In addition to socials and fundraisers, members participate in an annual membership fundraiser, a social event designed to raise awareness of The Doorways' mission in the community and connect with other young professionals - and prospective YPC members - in the area.
