Young Professionals Council

The Doorways’ Young Professionals Council (YPC) is a dynamic group of individuals who live and work in the Richmond community and give their time, talent and resources to support the mission of The Doorways.

The mission of the YPC is to increase awareness, understanding and community support of The Doorways in the RVA community.

Joining The Doorways’ YPC

The Doorways’ YPC accepts new members throughout the year. If you’re interested in joining the YPC, please fill out our online member application and we will contact you.

Membership Requirements

  • Mandatory
    • $50 annual dues (individual dues provide one night’s stay for a guest in medical crisis)
  • General Expectations
    • Attend at least 6 monthly gatherings per year
    • Attend/volunteer at least one signature Doorways’ event
    • Volunteer at the YPC’s signature event, Splatter That Matters
    • Provide a contact for a potential event sponsor, collection drive host, auction item(s) and/or new potential YPC member or volunteer
    • Serve as an ambassador for The Doorways’ in the Richmond community

Monthly Gatherings

Meetings

The YPC holds bi-monthly member meetings for the full Council and bi-monthly officer meetings for the YPC leadership team.

Socials & Friendraisers 

The YPC hosts regular social events at the newest hot spots in Richmond. These socials provide members with a chance to socialize, network and make new friends.

Fundraising Events

The YPC hosts its annual paintball tournament, Splatter That Matters, every spring. For more information on this fun-filled event, see our Events page.

Service Projects

YPC members participate in quarterly service projects that benefit the mission of The Doorways’ and its guests.

All proceeds from Young Professionals Council events are donated to The Doorways to support the cost of lodging our guests during their stay. Each member serves as an ambassador of The Doorways in the community,  provides volunteer and community outreach support, and are integral points of contact for The Doorways Staff and Board of Directors.

To support The Doorways through acts of generosity, hospitality and compassion and to develop additional resource streams through innovative fundraising and awareness initiatives.

Our Vision

The Young Professionals Council strives to make The Doorways a leading presence in Richmond, synonymous with hospitality and compassion during times of medical crisis.

How to Get Involved
