Sarah Melvin is a native Richmonder with more than thirty years in fundraising and development experience. Sarah leads The Doorways advancement team including volunteers, communications, special events and fundraising initiatives to increases awareness of The Doorways mission, strengthen relationships with constituents and partner with donors on philanthropic priorities. Sarah is grateful for the opportunity to put her experience to work on behalf of The Doorways to advance its important mission and make a difference in the lives of our guests.
My first job: Working as a hospital lab assistant in high school.
Some of my hobbies include: Biking, gardening, listening to live music and traveling
My favorite spot around town is: Carytown I love to window shop, eat at the wonderful restaurants, and see movies at The Byrd Theatre!
My favorite line of our mantra is: We believe in the simple truth that everyone needs help eventually; and We believe in generosity.
My favorite season is: Summer – it’s never too hot for me!
