Chef Sunny Baweja

Chef Sunny Baweja is a critically acclaimed chef of the award winning Lehja Restaurant. Chef Baweja is a self-trained chef with a master’s degree in business. He was born in Punjab, India which inspired the “Farm to Table” standard at Lehja. Chef Baweja is a two-time nominee for the prestigious James Beard Awards for “Best Chef Mid Atlantic” and has been recognized for Lehja’s wine program with awards by Wine Spectator since the restaurant’s opening. During the pandemic, Esquire included Lehja in their “100 restaurants America can’t afford to lose” list and Forbes lists Lehja as one of America’s greatest restaurants. Chef Baweja’s love and passion for Indian food – from street food and classic to modern cuisine – is reflected throughout Lehja’s menu as seen at the Chef’s Table and Chef’s Tasting Menu to offer patrons a journey to India through his food.
