Houseperson – (Hybrid Overnight & Day Shifts)
Reporting to the House Manager, the Houseperson is responsible for the upkeep and cleaning of The Doorways facilities across both daytime and overnight shifts. Responsibilities include maintaining carpets, hard floor surfaces, stairwells, guest rooms, common areas, and parking decks. This hybrid role requires flexibility, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across a variety of settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, vacated guest rooms, and all common areas including lobbies, lounges, corridors, elevators, restrooms, and locker rooms.
- Restock daily supplies in common areas.
- Inspect and clean empty guest rooms.
- Vacuum and/or shampoo carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
- Perform regular and restorative floor care using appropriate equipment.
- Collect and transport trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Collect and transport soiled laundry.
- Deliver linens, towels, toiletries, and cleaning supplies using wheeled carts.
- Move and arrange furniture; turn mattresses as required.
- Clean guest room and guest kitchen appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, ovens, and stovetops.
- Remove spoiled or outdated food items.
- Replace defective or burned-out light bulbs.
- Report any defects in room finishes, fixtures, furniture, or appliances; alert supervisor to any hazards.
- Maintain awareness and adherence to house guidelines and policies.
- Safeguard guest property and report any damage, theft, or found items.
- Professionally interact with guests and staff during all shifts.
- Complete tasks promptly and responsibly.
- Work both independently and as part of a team.
- Follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
- Accurately track hours worked and comply with timekeeping procedures.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to see, hear, and use hands and fingers effectively.
- Requires ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stretch, stoop, and carry items.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals and sanitizing agents.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read and understand English.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in housekeeping, maintenance, or handyman services.
- Prior healthcare environment experience preferred (e.g., nursing home, hospital).
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Proven experience in floor care required.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Availability to work evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and overtime if necessary.
Salary: Full-Time Hourly/ Non-Exempt: $15/hour.
