The Doorways recently welcomed 2026 Richmond Christmas Mother Cabell West for a special visit celebrating a longstanding partnership that brings holiday joy to patients and families receiving medical care in Richmond.
For many years, the Richmond Christmas Mother program has helped The Doorways create meaningful holiday experiences for guests spending the season away from home. From special holiday meals and gifts to festive activities and outings, this support helps bring moments of joy and togetherness to families navigating difficult medical journeys.
During her visit, Cabell was welcomed by board members Randy Greene and Helayne Spivak and longtime volunteer Caroline Morton, who shared her experiences and passion for The Doorways’ mission. Cabell toured The Doorways, learned about our daily operations and about the impact of the Christmas Mother program’s support, and had the chance to meet guests who were already embracing the holiday spirit in festive attire!
Following in the footsteps of her mother and aunt, who previously served as Richmond Christmas Mothers, Cabell carries on a family legacy of service. Her commitment to supporting local nonprofits reflects the growing importance of community partnerships for families facing difficult circumstances.
For guests at The Doorways, the holidays may look different from years past, but traditions like these offer opportunities to celebrate, connect, and make new memories.
We’re so grateful to Cabell and the Richmond Christmas Mother program for their continued generosity and for making these special moments possible.
